Nancy O'Dell's first work in the industry of broadcast was as an anchor and reporter at WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Then, she joined WCBD as an anchor in the morning and a crime reporter. The articles written by O'Dell in Charleston concerning how Charleston police handled DUI cases in a manner that was lenient, led to an inquiry by State Law Enforcement Division. The investigation resulted a stricter directive for state authorities. Ms. O'Dell was recognized by The Associated Press with the Best Report of the Year award for all media in South Carolina. O'Dell, after her stint working in Charleston reporting, was a co-anchor for NBC's Miami WTVJ-TV station before moving to Access Hollywood where she is an anchor and reporter during weekends. The present role of O'Dell as host of Access Hollywood is complemented by the work she has done for NBC News Today, Dateline NBC as well as NBC News. The anchor has hosted a number of Pre-ShowArrivals programs to The Emmys as well as The Golden Globe Awards. She also hosts the Miss USA Pageant and Miss Universe.
